Kerry and Coenraad got married on a beautiful day in the magical Hogsback situated 264 km from Port Elizabeth. Here is their story:
Kerry and I arrived in picturesque Hogsback on a beautiful Friday afternoon. We checked in to our cottage which had an amazing view of Hogs 1, 2 and 3!
I had in mind this great master plan on how, when and where I was going to ask Kerry for her hand. Originally my plan was to go for a romantic walk to a nearby waterfall on Saturday afternoon.
But Kerry had other ideas. We had an action packed Saturday which included an adventurous horse riding experience, all Kerry’s idea, despite the fact that she is scared of riding horses!! After all our activities Kerry didn’t feel up to doing a walk that afternoon and just wanted to calm her nerves and relax in front of the fire. In the mean time, I had packed a bag with Champagne, glasses and a very valuable ring in it, together with some snacks which gave me the reason for carrying the bag in the first place! By now I was really starting to stress and my nerves were shot! I ended up hiding the whole lot in the fridge, realising it had to wait for the next day.
It was very cold that Sunday, not ideal walking conditions but, I finally managed to convince Kerry that we must go for a walk, even if it was just a short one, so we did. She decided for us to walk the Contour path walk which starts and finishes down in the forest at the bottom of Oak Avenue. This was it! Possibly my last and only chance to ask this burning question! It is not a long walk and I really had to motivate why I was taking snacks with on such a short walk, but I managed.
We finished the walk and we were sitting on one of the benches in the forest…. With my heart pumping, hands shaking and sweating, I dropped my right knee into the mud and asked Kerry for her hand in marriage! She said YES! I could quite literally feel the weight of the world lift off my chest! With that I instantaneously became the happiest man in the universe!!
Our first and only choice for our Wedding Day could only have been Hogsback, and what a wise choice indeed! It was the most magical, romantic setting for our special day.
Thank you Kerry and Coenraad for allowing us to a part of your wedding day! We really enjoyed being there and you guys were great to work with!
